Nutritional and Health Claims
Nutritional and/or health claims on food labels, including food supplements, do not constitute a mandatory labelling requirement, however, they can be a good help to encourage consistent and high-quality marketing actions, essential for reach the intended target audience, to guide the customer to the stages of searching for product information or purchasing.
The inclusion of nutritional and/or health claims must comply with the provisions of Regulation (EC) N.º 1924/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 December 2006. This regulation is the legal framework used by food business operators when they want to highlight the specific beneficial effects of their foodstuffs, in relation to health and nutrition, on the product label or in their advertising.
